VikingHolstein Autumn Sire Focus Some Sires are presented on BPI proofs and others on NTM. We have many clients who have grown to understand the Viking Sire Proofs over the years, and they appreciate the thorough information in Viking’s NTM proofs, particularly on the health traits. For this reason, we will always have a large portion of sires presented on NTM. But there are many farmers who are not familiar with Viking or NTM Proofs, so for this reason we present the sires who calculate well to BPI on the Australian system. We have many sires now that have come through the ABV system, and their performance has been impressive. Sires like VH Ascari, VH Nader, VH Crown & VH Friday just to name a few. We are also proud of the fact that the Viking Sire’s are continually improving the longevity traits like daughter fertility, scc and a stronger conformation. The survival in Australian herds is noted by our clients who remain loyal to the Viking prod- uct which adds value to the farm business. If you want to see every sire’s proof on NTM or BPI, then you can easily access this on VikingGenetics Australia’s website or of course the DataGene website (https://datagene.com.au) NEW VH Oswald was chosen for Australia because he has what many breeders are searching for in their programmes. VH Oswald has medium stature with extra chest and body depth and a stronger rib structure to provide more grunt in his daughters. Legs are good, pins are lower, teats are longer. Health is excellent and components and Kg’s of Solids are strong. NOTE* VH Oswald is great to correct udder balance (forward tilt on udders) with a score of 96 to bring the rear quarters down where they should be. NEW VH Stens is a sire that ticks so many boxes on both evaluation systems (ABV & NTM). For Autumn we are focusing on his figures on ABV’s. VH Stens has a strong BPI and will breed a slightly below average statured cow with a well-balanced frame with excellent teat placement and good-sized teats. Components are super, resulting in high fat and protein Kg’s of Solids and a strong ASI index. VH Stens has excellent daughter fertility and scc and is very strong on the NTM system for General Health and Hoof Health. lactations 15,745 litres 4.42% fat and 3.74% prot 305 days. That is a whopping 1,285 Kg’s of Solids and she has done this with the least feed input compared to all other CFIT Holstein cows (approximately 10,000 cows). VH Luby excels for milk + components + solids production and is strong for mastitis resistance, general health and daughter fertility. NEW VH Sandro provides an opportunity for those looking for a substantial boost in milk production without sacrificing components. Milking speed and Temperament are excellent as is daughter fertility and longevity. VH Sandro offers a medium stature cow with greater chest than stature score and even greater scores for body depth, providing the clas- sic wedge-shaped cow. This is why VH Sandro is consid- ered a Dairy Strength Sire. VH Sandro also has excellent lactation persistence and a very strong score of 127 for growth rate, which means easy to rear fast growing, healthy calves. Fore and rear udder attachments are strong ensuring daughters with a long herd life. VH Luby is a beacon for the future as he is bred from the most feed efficient Holstein cow in Denmark, measured by the CFIT system. This system measures exactly feed input and production output. She has averaged so far for three Nordic breed average 2025 No. of cows Milk litres (305 days) Fat kg Fat % Protein kg Protein % 535,000 11,153 470 4.09 402 3.50 3
