New trends and our contribution to the generations to come W e believe that there is a better understanding of the use of sexed semen and the benefits that brings to cattle breeders around the world. We have seen an increasing trend in the use of female sexed semen (X-Vik) in our different mar- kets. And a notable raised demand for male sexed semen – (Y-Vik) especially in the domestic markets, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America. The Nordic countries have set trends and established milestones for cattle breeding before, as breeding for healthy dairy cows with the lowest use of antibiotics. And now, we see a new movement among Jersey farmers and younger dairymen being firm in their position to accomplish animal welfare and climate challenge requirements. They are, for example, increasing efforts to eliminate the slaughter of Jersey’s calves and this action has increased the use of both X-Vik and Y-Vik. Will this be a global trend? Working with the new generation Animal welfare is a deeply rooted value among the new generation of cattle breeders not only in our domestic countries but all around the world. By understanding and supporting young farmers today, we can help feed the world tomorrow. At VikingGenetics, we are on the crest of that wave, ready to serve the market with innovative and sus - tainable genetics.
